Aerodromes and air navigation services


The Air Navigation Services and Aerodromes Department of Finnish Transport Safety Agency's aviation sector oversees aerodrome operators and air navigation service providers. The oversight consists of issuing aviation regulations, granting approvals and performing inspections.

The Air Navigation Services and Aerodromes Department also investigates incidents and occurrences
related to aerodromes and air navigation. The purpose of the investigation is to find out the sequence of events in detail and determine the causes of the incident, to prevent similar events from recurring in the future.

Moreover, the Department monitors bird control measures, i.e. the dispersal of birds from airport manoeuvring areas, which is an important task for flight safety.
