The Transport Administration Reform brings changes to CAA Finland’s internal organisation.
From the beginning of next year, the former Flight Operations and Licensing Department will be known as the Flight Operations Department. The Department is further divided into four units, which are the Flight Operations Approvals, Flight Operations Oversight, Licensing and Training and Aviation Medicine.
Aircraft maintenance personnel licensing and training issues will be transferred to the Airworthiness Department. National sport aviation licences and the oversight of associated training will be handed over to the Sport Aviation Unit operating under the Airworthiness Department. Furthermore, issues related to the licensing and training of air navigation services personnel will be transferred to the Air Navigation Services and Aerodromes Department.
From the beginning of year 2010, the CAA Flight Operations Department will be headed by
Pekka Henttu, an airline transport pilot and Master of Science in Technology, who will move over to the aviation authority from the national air carrier Finnair. The former long-time Director of the Department,
Reijo Lamberg, will retire.
The new Heads of Unit from the beginning of year 2010 will be
Jorma Kivinen for Flight Operations Approvals,
Veli-Matti Petramo for Flight Operations Oversight and
Helena Pietilä for Licensing and Training. The Aeromedical Section will continue to be headed by Chief Medical Officer
Kari Antila.
In addition,
Jyrki Laitila has been appointed as the Head of Maintenance Unit in the CAA Airworthiness Department. He assumed his new duties on 7 September 2009 already.
As of 1.1.2010, CAA Finland will be merged with the Finnish Vehicle Administration, Finnish Rail Agency and the safety functions of the Finnish Maritime Administration to form a new
Transport Safety Agency.
